Improved antibiotic use results in reduced mortality, decreased threat of Clostridium difficile-associated diarrhea, shorter hospital stays, lowered overall antibiotic resistance inside the hospital, and elevated cost financial savings. Despite all of those advantages, the uptake of antibiotic stewardship programs and interventions amongst U.S. hospitals is variable.
